Blanchard Racing Team (BRT) is excited to announce the return to the Super2 Series with Jack Perkins behind the wheel in a striking new retro livery.
Perkins, a seasoned second-generation racer and seven-time Super2 race winner, will pilot the No. 79 BRT Mustang at the upcoming Townsville and Sandown rounds, gaining invaluable track time in preparation for this year's enduros, Sandown 500 and Bathurst 1000, in the main Supercars Series.
No. 79 pays homage to the iconic race car driven by Jack’s father, Larry Perkins, and Peter Janson in the 1979 Great Race, which finished on the podium in second place.
This retro livery captures the spirit of racing history while also partnering with key partners, including Shaw and Partners, RACE ONE, Southern Cross Truck Rentals, Muscle Car Warehouse, Haeusler's, TLC Auto Centre, Castrol, Snowy River Caravans and CoolDrive Auto Parts.
Reuniting with former teammate James Courtney, Perkins and Courtney, are poised to make a formidable duo on the track.
Managing the team for the No. 79 entry will be BRT team co-principal, Tim Blanchard, with the renowned Wally Storey serving as race engineer.
This effort will also stand as a developmental pathway for new crew members to learn and grow before stepping into the main Supercars series.
BRT’s return to the Super2 Series signifies a significant milestone for the team and sets the stage for a thrilling season ahead.
The Super2 Series will return at the Townsville 500, during July 5th-7th.
